Unusual Ornament
You might have noticed the tiny red thing hanging on the Christmas tree.
Yes, that *is* what it is.  My friend Malcolm made it more than 20 years ago and hung it on my tree to see if anyone would notice.  No one ever has.
My son, home from college,  asked me about it when he was decorating the small tree, and I told him.  Apparently he followed tradition and hung it.  I only noticed it today, taking photos.  :)

I’ve been taking scads of photos of Christmas decorations and light displays this year, because I have an idea I’ll put together a kinestasis film for next year.  This will be the last one I’lll share here for now… after all, it’s almost the New Years Eve.  I just couldn’t resist this guy :)

The Clock Tower, Victoria Park
The awesome tower used to sit atop the gorgeous Kitchener City Hall building, until it was torn down and replaced with a glass and girder monstrosity.  The tower was packed away for years, until citizens fought to get it back.  It was then reassembled in beautiful Victoria Park.
I know the history through my brother, Lance Russwurm, a local historian-artist in the Kitchener area, who painted this picture from childhood.  The Woody Station Wagon with the tree on top was ours, and one of our family traditions was to go downtown and “oooh” and “ahhh” at the Christmas light displays.

Oma’s traditional Apple Tarte…
After this, apple pie is a non-starter.  Incredibly rich, I’m told the pastry contains vast quantities of real butter.  Yum.
Very rich.
