Wrong.

If a law of the land says doing something is a crime, anyone who does it is committing a crime. 

During prohibition in the United States, the people who bought and consumed alcohol were criminals, until the law was repealed.  Then they weren’t

This is why it is important to make sure that governments don’t pass laws that run contrary to societies mores. 

If a law criminalizes a previously legal activity, and the majority doesn’t see anything wrong with it, the majority will break the law.  Casually.  All this accomplishes is a nudge-nudge-wink-wink-say-no-more society of casual law breakers.  Thus, stupid laws breeds disrespect for law. 

The legal system, like the monetary system, requires belief and support from citizens.
